Celebrating 9 Years of Community Bliss
For many years I’ve had a fascination with the number 9. It’s a number that, when applied to other numbers, results in a form of regeneration.
If you multiply a number by 9, and then add the numbers to reduce it to a single digit, the answer comes back to 9.
For example:
9 x 3 = 27 → 2 + 7 = 9
9 x 6 = 54 → 5 + 4 = 9
9 x 11 = 99 → 9 + 9 = 18 → 1+8 = 9
And if you add the number 9 to another number, and reduce those numbers to single digits, the original number is restored.
For example:
9 + 3 = 12 → 1 + 2 = 3
9 + 6 = 15 → 1 + 5 = 6
9 + 11* = 20 → 2 + 0 = 2
*(1 + 1 = 2)
Kinda nifty, innit? I’m taking this auspicious number as a sign that our 9 year anniversary is a special milestone that means we will continue to be unstoppable as a community and business.
In numerology, the number 9 is seen as symbol of growth and transformation, as it is the last single digit number. This end of a cycle gives birth to the next and represents growth and evolution. It seems fitting that we just said good-bye to Kelly at the end of August and started our search for a new team member.
We have just hired our new team member, Jen Reeves, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll tell you more about her in the next newsletter because she deserves a dedicated introduction. Onwards and upwards!
Spooky Season Is Here!
It’s my favorite month containing my favorite holiday, and the studio is all decorated to show it! Monday night I taught my first Halloween/Fall themed TRX class. There were pumpkins and a playlist. There were corny jokes and a bonfire burn of a program! I don’t know what it is about using pumpkins instead of a medicine ball in a workout, but it gets me pump-ed up!
More shenanigans and curated playlists are coming this month so if you have been needing a little extra inspiration to get to a group fitness class, October is a great month to get in here!
Starting next week we’ll be playing a little game of hide and sEEEK! in the studio. Come this week to notice the decorations we have up now (lots of skeletons, pumpkins, rats, and spiders!) Next week and until the end of the month I’ll be adding in a few more hidden decorations for people to spot. If you find my hidden additions, you’ll get to pick a treat from the bucket of goodies.
Community News and Shout-outs
I had an inspired idea to add this section to my newsletter to share news about our community and give some high fives. We have such an incredible, passionate, talented community and that is the anchor of what makes Bliss special. We are a collection of artists, activists, and people with diverse talents and interests.
For instance, in Saturday’s Rebel Recess class last weekend we learned that Karen K. is helping to launch and lead a local chapter of parents of transgender kids. This is such important work, especially now! If you want to know more, we can put you in touch.
On Sunday, we got a few Bliss Buddies and friends together and met at the Berkeley Art Museum for two exhibits. We toured the Routed West: African American Quilts in California and the textile art of Korean artist Lee ShinJa. It was a lovely outing (highly recommend both if you can get there!) We got to meet Heather’s baby, Freida who took everything in and then gently drifted into a nap.
If you have any events or news you’d like to share with the community, let me know via e-mail ([email protected]) and I will try to get it shared in time.

Let’s give a round of applause to some group fitness members who have reached recent attendence milestones.
