Whatever you call it, it’s not a good look on anyone and it can really create some issues! We body nerds know it as kyphosis, and one of the habits that leads to it is jutting the neck forward so that it is out of alignment with your spine.

This is a pretty common issue we see when students hold a plank or do push ups. Check out Tyler’s beautifully strong posture in this photo and how aligned her head and neck are with her spine.

Jutting the head forward weakens and shortens the muscles in the front of the chest, neck, and shoulders. While the body caves inward, the muscles of the upper back become painfully overstretched and lose their strength. As a result, both front and back sides of the body suffer.

Yuck and ouch!
Don’t worry though, we can help with that!

Tyler’s classes this month are going heavy on the cues to prevent your neck from venturing into this harmful position. Her programming is on a theme to help you gain awareness of what a lengthened spine feels like and to build a strong upper back and neck.

This all means you’ll have:
✅ Less neck and back pain
✅ Strength to support good posture with less effort
✅ Greater capacity to breathe
✅ Posture that makes you feel strong and proud
